Miniature Schnauzer Show Team

Huzzah

(Beanara Njals Saga At Lyzahro VW

Your heart and my heart are old friends (Hafiz)

Huzzah entered Lydia's life in 2013 after she fell in love with a white mini at an open show in 2012. Once she saw Dalske standing in the middle of a line of pepper and salts, it was a done deal, and Lydia knew she would soon be welcoming one into her home! Several months later, Huzzah arrived, aged 16 months and the pair started on an extraordinary journey.

At home he has proved himself to be lovable, mischievous, eager to please, and rather addicted to slippers.

Huzzah enjoys racing round the garden like a loony, and is the most loving schnauzer ever to woof at a postman. He gets very excited, and is affectionately known as the "WhingeBucket". He is devoted to Lydia, and whenever she is out of sight, will bounce five feet into the air to see where she has gone. He has been known to text people, and in true excitable WhingeBucket style, doesn't draw breath between words. His every sentence starts with the phrase "OhmygodI'msoexcited", which, if you come to meet him, you'll see sums up his personality to perfection.

He rarely misbehaves (unless he thinks you're not watching), and is very good about putting himself to bed at nine pm.

He is currently on of four white schnauzers being shown in Wales, and in his first  three years, only came home from one show without being placed! Lydia and Huzzah are leading the way in championing White Schnauzers in the UK, as white is not a widely shown colour within the breed.

His current show record includes, among others, qualification for Crufts 2015-22, multiple Best/Reserve Best of Breeds and Group placings at Open Shows, Best White Speciality at Schnauzer Club of Great Britain 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019, Best White Speciality at Miniature Schnauzer Club 2017/2019. and Best White Speciality at the Northern Schnauzer Club Championship Show 2018/2019/2021. He gained multiple Best Veteran in Groups at Open Shows since his 7th birthday in 2019, and multiple Best Veteran In Breed at Championship shows, with qualifications to Welsh Veteran of the Year and Schnauzer Showcase Veteran of the Year.

Huzzah was the only white schnauzer shown at Crufts 2015, and was recognised by the Kennel Club and Channel 4 for this, and appeared on the Crufts sofa alongside Clare Balding during the Best in Show programme. He also had a sponsor ahead of the big day, and has had several articles written about him.

He's been known around the ring as Fishface, Drama Llama, Fleabag and NumptyDog, and he is well known for screaming at the top of his voice from the second he arrives at a show until he is all set up and ready to go!

In 2018, Huzzah gained his Stud Book Number at Border Union Championship Show, fulfilling a long held dream for us all, and is now qualified for Crufts for life. To our knowledge Huzzah is only the second white in 10 years to have achieved this. The following year he created another piece of breed history, being not only the first miniature schnauzer, but the first of all three sizes to win the Veteran Warrant.

Huzzah currently holds a clear eye test certificate, declaring him to be clear of the following conditions:

Congtinal Atrophy.

Hereditary Cataracts.

Generalised Progressive Retinal Atrophy

As of September 2017, Huzzah has tested clear/normal/unaffected for MAC.

Shows, qualifying him for Welsh Veteran

Hope
(Habanera Eldzh Hope for Lyzahro Imp UKR)
Though she be but little, she is fierce (Shakespeare)

Hope arrived at Lyzahro Schnauzers in the dead of night, and under a veil of secrecy. After a brief negotiating period between Lydia and Vytoria (Hope's Ukrainian breeder), Hope made her long journey overland from her kennel to the UK. Lydia drove through the night to meet her in a freezing and windswept service station on the M6 Toll.

After another three hours in the car, Lydia and Hope arrived back at Lyzahro Schnauzers, to be met by an overexcited Huzzah and an ever curious Romanii. Austin wasn't far behind in the excitement stakes either! She soon settled in with the boys. and was confident enough to give them a good telling off when she thought they were getting too personal!

She has grown into a wonderful, outgoing and delightful young lady, and every day with her brings new challenges and surprises. She has proved herself to be a dab hand at interior decoration, and as a younger pup took it upon herself to remodel part of our kitchen!

In her short puppy career she won numerous Best Puppy in Breed awards, as well as Utility Puppy Group 4 at Pembroke and District, Utility Puppy Group 3 at Vale of Glamorgan and Utility Puppy Group 2 at Tredegar.

As an adult Hope continues to do well in the ring, with several Best of Breeds, and qualifications for Crufts 2017 and 2018 under her belt at the age of 3. She has also won Best Black Speciality at all three Club shows in 2017 and repeated this again in 2018 (SCGB, Miniature Schnauzer Club and Northern Schnauzer Club). In 2018 she took home her first Reserve Best in Show, and her first Group 1 at Open level. In 2016 she took to the film set as part of the film "Show Dogs" starring Will Arnett, which was released in 2018.

We jokingly refer to her as Does Not Play Well With Others, as she has been known to snub everyone and anyone who approaches her. She accepts tribute from those brave enough to approach her!

Due to an anatomical issue with her womb, Hope has been removed from our breeding programme, but will continue to strut her stuff on set and in the ring.

In 2018 Hope won her first Reserve Challenge Certificate at Border Union Championship Show, qualifying herself for her Stud Book Number and is now crufts qualified for life. This is a huge achievement for us, and we are so very proud of her.

During the course of 2018 Hope has qualified for Schnauzer Showcase, Welsh Top Dog, South Wales Kennel Association Dog of the Year, and Limited Shows Dog of the Year.

Hope currently holds a clear eye test certificate, declaring her to be clear of the following conditions:

Congtinal Atrophy.

Hereditary Cataracts.

Generalised Progressive Retinal Atrophy

As we do not intend to breed Hope, she has not been tested for MAC.

Gatland
(Lyzahro White Here White Now)
I've known you for all of your forevers.

Gatland is our first homebred puppy, bred from our Swedish import, Zeeva. His father is the International Multi Champion "Merlin" from the world renowned Cheline's kennel, owned in the UK by Mrs Harrison Smith (Nenevale).

Gatland was the "grey man" of our 2019 litter, he had no personality, and very little character while in the whelping box and pen, and we overlooked him many times in favour of his litter mates. Evaluations from highly respected breeders around the world however all gave him the nod over his brothers. Once we had made up our minds about him, his personality suddenly came to the fore! He is lively, cheeky, and very confident. He has a lot to say for himself, and often sings while we walk, much to the hilarity of our neighbours.

He and Huzzah are the best of friends, and he never fails to make us smile on a daily basis with his absolute enthusiasm for life and everything in it. He is always in trouble, or planning it. How Zeeva puts up with him is beyond any of us!

He is a very special young man, and has been unfortunate enough to be a "pandemic puppy" - meaning he has missed his entire puppy career due to the Covid 19 pandemic. He made his debut at Southern Counties in 2021, and went on to Scotland where he won his first class. We are very excited about his future.

Gatland currently holds a clear eye test certificate, declaring him to be clear of the following conditions:

Congtinal Atrophy.

Hereditary Cataracts.

Generalised Progressive Retinal Hereditary Cataracts.

As of December 2019. Gatland has tested normal/clear/unaffected for MAC

As of May 2021 Gatland has tested normal/clear/unaffected for PRA B1, Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT).

Zeeva
(Zantanas Somthing Special Lyzahro (Imp Swe)
We are such things that dreams are made on (Shakespeare)

We are delighted to have the opportunity to introduce Zeeva into our little family at Lyzahro. A crisp, and pitch black Autumn morning saw Lydia heading cross country to Folkestone, en route to Brussels Airport to meet a very special plane from Stockholm. Even the prospect of 18 hours travelling could not dampen her enthusiasm, as the puppy arriving on the plane had been planned and in the making for two years.

On arrival at our kennel, Zeeva showed herself to be such a happy go lucky girl, with huge character. She was welcomed with open paws by all, except Hope, who was less than amused by the arrival of a puppy, and a girl at that. She is cheeky, nosy, hilarious, and always on the go. She began her show career in December 2017 and in her second show won Best AV Puppy and Best AV Not Bred By Exhibitor. In her first outing at the Miniature Schnauzer Club Championship Show, she brought home Best White Bitch Speciality. In her last show as a puppy, she qualified for Crufts 2019, and qualified for the Welsh Junior of the Year 2019 competition.

In 2019 Zeeva retired from the ring aged 2, and started a new chapter as our foundation bitch in our breeding programme. In the November she brought Gatland's litter into the world, and in 2021 she gave us Nia and her siblings before being spayed and enjoying a full retirement on our sofa.

Zeeva currently holds a clear eye test certificate, declaring her to be clear of the following conditions:

Congtinal Atrophy.

Hereditary Cataracts.

Generalised Progressive Retinal Hereditary Cataracts.

As of June 2019 Zeeva has tested normal/clear/unaffected for MAC.

As of May 2021 Zeeva has tested normal/clear/unaffected for PRA B1, Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Myotonia Congentia (MC), and Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS)

Nia
(Lyzahro Mostly Harmless)

Nia is Zeeva's daughter from her 2021 litter. One of eight, she soon made her presence known, and won over everyone in the house. Lydia, knowing that having five dogs and a baby was probably pushing the boundaries of sanity, placed her in a very loving show home - her mother's!

Nia is Madog's daughter, and while he is sometimes fond of the company, he often wishes for the peace and quiet of the pre-Nia years. So does Anne come to that!

Nia's early career has been hampered by the tail end of the Covid 19 Pandemic, and she has been unable to qualify for Crufts, and has only been very lightly shown. We have high hopes for her future however.

Nia is hereditary normal/clear/unaffected for MAC, PRA B1, Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Myotonia Congentia (MC), and Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS)

Madog

(Saraswati Bonno Blue at Lyzahro Imp MKD)

The little dog who laughs.

After a convoluted journey taking five days, including several thousand miles, and with citizenship of three countries, Madog arrived in the UK from Macedonia on a wet and windy July evening. He emerged from the carrier, nervous, unsure and slightly filthy, but soon showed his cheeky side, and chewed Lydia's fingers all the way home.

After a quick bath and brush, he was presentable enough to make his entrance at the Lyzahro
Kennel, and bravely faced up to three very curious dogs. Huzzah immediately took to him, and the pair became fast friends. Hope took offence to the intrusion of another puppy into her world, and Romanii took one look, registered the fact that it was another beard, and took himself off to bed.

After a night of enforced companionship with Madog, Romanii accepted him as a part of the gang, and lost little time in showing him the best spot to bask in the sunshine. Hope asserted her authority by stealing all the toys and slapping him on the nose whenever he sniffed them!

Anne and Geraint were excited to meet Madog, and have welcomed him into their home with open arms. Anne has followed in her daughter's footsteps and has taken the lead (pun absolutely intended) in showing both Madog and his daughter Nia. Together they have brought home several Best of Breeds at Open show level, and have several class wins at Championship show level as well. Madog has consistently qualified for Crufts since debuting in the ring in 2017.

Madog currently holds a clear eye test certificate, declaring him to be clear of the following conditions:

Congtinal Atrophy.

Hereditary Cataracts.

Generalised Progressive Retinal Hereditary Cataracts.

As of September 2017. Madog has tested normal/clear/unaffected for MAC.

As of May 2021 Madog has tested normal/clear/unaffected for PRA B1, Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT), Myotonia Congentia (MC), and Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS)
